National PTA Arts Enhancement Grants Available

The National PTA will be accepting applications for the 2012-2013 Mary Lou Anderson Reflections Arts Enhancement Grants. These grants will provide local PTAs with up to $1,000 in matching funds for "student-centered programs geared toward sustaining and enhancing creativity and artistic values for large groups of at-risk students."

Local PTA's are encouraged to apply for funding to create or enhance an already existing arts program in one or more arts areas: visual arts, photography, music, dance, literature, and theater. "Priority is being placed on projects that represent research-based best practices in arts education. Specifically, PTA will fund arts programs that are of a sustained nature (rather than a one time event) and reach large numbers of at-risk students."

Ordway's Summer Dance is BACK!

Join us each Thursday starting at 5:30p.m. in Landmark Plaza for Summer Dance. At 6pm, we kick off the dancing with basic lessons by professional dance companies. After the lesson, you are invited to put those moves to practice during open dancing the rest of the evening with a live, local band starting at 7:15p.m. This entire event is FREE and open to the public.

In case of rain, Summer Dance will be held inside at the Ordway on June 21, June 28, July 12, July 19, July 26 and August 2; at Landmark Center on June 14 and August 9.
