Workshop with Dobet Gnahoré: An Evening on African Rhythms

Learn more about Afro-Pop, a fusion of rock, funk, and African grooves and rhythms, in this high-energy vocal and dance workshop led by Dobet Gnahoré, singer, dancer and percussionist from Côte d’Ivoire. Complete with live drumming, experience Dobet’s charismatic presence and energetic style of movement up close in this unique opportunity.

Workshop and Lunch with the Cast of A Christmas Story, the Musical

Join the Ordway for this unique opportunity to learn choreography and meet cast members from the Ordway's Production of A Christmas Story, the Musical!

Participants will learn dance combinations from the show while building their dance repertoire and skill set. After the workshop, students will have the opportunity to engage with the cast during lunch.

Participants will need jazz shoes. Previous musical experience recommended. Space limited to 30 participants.

Shangilia Educators Workshop with J.D. Steele

When: Saturday, May 8 from 1:00pm-2:30pm
Where: The Directors Studio in Minneapolis

Join composer and teacher J.D. Steele who will lead participants through an introduction to the performing group Shangilia with personal stories of the young performers and their unique artistic journey. Participants will also learn a song from Shangilia’s June performances that are a part of the Flint Hills International Children’s Festival, and will leave with a music CD to bring back to their classroom.

Diavolo Homeschool Workshop!

The workshop was a follow-up for students that attended a Diavolo performance in March. The workshop took place at The Director's Studio in Minneapolis where seven homeschool students took part in a movement and trust building workshop with Garret, a Diavolo company member.
