7:30pm Live Music ROCKIN‘ HOLLYWOODS

Ordway Center for the Performing Arts, along with the Landmark Center, The Saint Paul Hotel and the St. Paul Public Library system enthusiastically announce the free Summer Dance program, a weekly social dance event at Landmark Plaza. Each week Summer Dance highlights a different social dance technique every Thursday with basic lessons by professional dance companies and the subsequent invitation to put those lessons to practice during open dancing the rest of the evening with a live, local band. Dance, relax and experience the vibrant energy of downtown St. Paul in the summertime.

5:30pm  Beer and wine for purchase throughout the night.
6:00pm  Fun dance demos and free lessons.
7:30-10:00pm  Live Music Move to a different band every week!
(In case of inclement weather the dances will move inside the Ordway.)

Ordway Summer Dance has also partnered with the St. Paul Public Library system to bring you dance-themed films at the Central Library's Friday Movie Night. Join us in Central Library's Kellogg Blvd Courtyard each Friday at 9:30pm.

Mark your calendars for the 2010-2011 fall on-sale!

The annual fall on-sale will take place on September 3, 2010 and will be your first chance to order school performance tickets for the 2011 Flint Hills International Children’s Festival.  Tickets will go on sale by phone at 7am via the education ticket hotline at 651-282-3115.  Faxed and mailed orders will be processed a the end of the day!

Ordway Summer Dance kicks off with Salsa Night!

Salsa Night was a great way to begin Ordway Summer Dance!

More than 200 people learned, watched, listened and danced salsa inside the Ordway's Marzitelli Foyer due to inclement weather.

Hundreds of the best artists, vocalists, and musicians from Saint Paul Public Schools showcased their skills and talents as part of the annual Honors Concert, Performance Art and Art Exhibition.

The Saint Paul Public Schools nineteenth annual Honors Concert and Performance Art event was hosted by the Ordway on our main stage on April 27, 2010.

The College of Visual Arts will host the 2010 Honors Art Exhibition May 21-29, featuring the visual artists’ creations selected from original paintings, drawings, photographs, sculptures and other works submitted by students every spring. The Exhibition Opening will take place May 20 from 6pm-8pm.

Shangilia Educators Workshop with J.D. Steele

When: Saturday, May 8 from 1:00pm-2:30pm
Where: The Directors Studio in Minneapolis
Cost: $3

Join composer and teacher J.D. Steele who will lead participants through an introduction to the performing group Shangilia with personal stories of the young performers and their unique artistic journey. Participants will also learn a song from Shangilia’s June performances that are a part of the Flint Hills International Children’s Festival, and will leave with a music CD to bring back to their classroom.

Diavolo Homeschool Workshop!

Check out Education at the Ordway's first homeschool workshop with Diavolo!
The workshop was a follow-up for students that attended a Diavolo performance in March. The workshop took place at The Director's Studio in Minneapolis where seven homeschool students took part in a movement and trust building workshop with Garret, a Diavolo company member.
